Sofia Portanet

Artist

Since 2019, Sofia Portanet is well on her way to becoming an established, successful artist, quickly leaving newcomer status behind. After gaining her first musical experience in the children's choir of the Paris National Opera, Sofia moved to Berlin in 2009 to develop her own music.

A wonderful world between postpunk/wave, expressive vocals in German, English and French as well as sophisticated lyricism, in which Rilke is also quoted from time to time. It's hard to find a pigeonhole here, because Sofia Portanet is first and foremost herself. Her appearance, reminiscent of a film diva of the Nouvelle Vague, is as much a part of the musical artist concept as the sophisticated videos and rousing shows.

2018 saw the release of Sofia Portanet's first single, followed in 2020 by the acclaimed album "Freier Geist". In a BBC radio show she was presented as "Germany's next international pop star", and then actually played one of her most successful shows in London. Der Spiegel wrote: "The set pieces of her aesthetic are the dark poetry and soft-focus melancholy of New Wave, the hypnotism of Krautrock, the red-white-black Sixties chic of the White Stripes. But still, a pop pastiche as elegant as Portanet doesn't come along every day."

Shortly after its release, it was supposed to go on tour. Then came Corona and with it a long forced break. Under Corona conditions followed small, fine concerts for "radioeins Sommergarten", MDR "Kassablanca", ARTE "Open Stage" , ZDF "Stay Live" with Inga Humpe and ZDF Moma among others. But now finally the time has come: Performances in front of an audience are possible again. Sofia Portanet starts on a small festival tour and presents for the first time "Freier Geist" live and a song from the upcoming new album, which will be released at the end of February 2022. It remains an exciting story, stay on the ball is worth it.
