April 30,
20:45–21:30
Concert @
BüzE Grosser Saal
Yes, it really exists, the latest Neue Deutsche Welle. No trend label, no joke, no sales strategy. Quite the opposite. Steintor Herrenchor are one of the few bands in the country so far to breathe new life into the reverberating nostalgia sound of '85 with an open mind. The hitherto anonymous trio from Hanover succeeds in the wedding arrangement of New Wave, Post-Punk and Casio-Pop in DIY mode so flawlessly, so urgently, without any hullabaloo about their persons, that any nostalgia for that time either fades away or returns with even greater force. "I don't want to fall in love, because I don't want to lose myself," it sounds in the wonderfully minimalist "Postcards" - you can't get more eyeshadow romantic than that. Hopelessly in love with someone who doesn't even notice you? Just lost perhaps not your better half after all? Brooding attacks about everything that went wrong? Steintor Herrenchor give away the definitive soundtrack for one thunderstorm in the head and the other on grey summer days. From the reflection on yesterday to the dilemma in today, this wave is far from ready to break.
The concert is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2023 musichubgermany" and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
