After 6 years in the city, Teeya Lamée, who now feels like a "half-Lipziger", officially started her project last year.
The artist with the orange hair has been making music since early musical education and "Spatzenchor" - but when she first really got into her genre Alternative R'n'B/Neo-Soul in 2018, it was all about her.
She has now been releasing her own music since 2022. A field of tension between soulful warmth, in which you want to let yourself sink - so very slowly, back first - and groovy vibes, to which you sometimes nod your head in euphoria.
Their lyrics tell of encounters and observations, up to very personal topics. Thus, their debut single "no matter where i touch" is about the baseless feeling of not feeling yourself. Musically the collapse is symbolized again and again, to which it comes in such a moment and which seems to take away the ground from you. Real issues, even supposedly unpleasant topics, such as mental health, are an aspect for which she wants to stand with her music. In December, she now released her follow-up single "Pretty Face". For the year 2023, some new projects are planned, so the next release will not be long in coming.
Teeya Lamée cites a variety of artists* as influences, with Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas, Jaz Karis, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill as a few examples.
While the artist also played some solo gigs last year, the focus is now on gigs together with her great live band.Despite the still short duration of her publicTeeya Lamée has already been able to perform in established venues such as the Mjut (Leipzig), the Noch Besser Leben (Leipzig),the summer stage of the Werk 2 (Leipzig), the Beatpol (Dresden), the Weltecho (Chemnitz) and the Pierre Grasse (Halle).
The concert is part of the funding project "c/o pop 2023 musichubgermany" and is supported by the Initiative Musik gemeinnützige Projektgesellschaft GmbH with project funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
